Vanishing Shores

Coastlines under pressure

Australia's coastlines are retreating. Driven by rising seas, intensifying storms, and decades of shoreline hardening, beaches that once defined communities are narrowing or disappearing entirely. Vanishing Shores documents this gradual erasure — the exposed foundations, the encroaching water, the signs still pointing toward beaches that no longer exist.

Photographed along the south-eastern coast, this series moves between locations where the change is already complete and others still holding on. The images resist spectacle. Instead they sit with the slow, cumulative nature of ecological loss — the kind that is easy to miss until it is already gone.
